About the Training

Discipline That Works: Teaching Self Control and Coping Skills through Instructional Discipline SystemsWhen children are punished for inappropriate behavior, they frequently repeat the same negative behavior, just as though the punishment had never occurred. Some children, especially those who have a history of childhood trauma, will even become more agitated and oppositional when punished. This program addresses this dilemma. It outlines strategies for teaching children self-control, problem solving, and other necessary coping skills while they are being timed-out for unacceptable behavior. Discipline teaches a skill. Discipline changes behavior.
