About the Training
Discipline That Works: Teaching Self Control and Coping Skills through Instructional Discipline Systems – When children are punished for inappropriate behavior, they frequently repeat the same negative behavior, just as though the punishment had never occurred. Some children, especially those who have a history of childhood trauma, will even become more agitated and oppositional when punished. This program addresses this dilemma. It outlines strategies for teaching children self-control, problem solving, and other necessary coping skills while they are being timed-out for unacceptable behavior. Discipline teaches a skill. Discipline changes behavior.
